Day 1Welcome to Germany!
Arrive at Frankfurt am Main Airport, pick up your rental car and start your road trip adventure.
If time allows, explore Frankfurt before heading to your first night accommodation in Wurzburg (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes drive).

Suggestion For The Day:

In Frankfurt, take some time to stroll along the Main River, stopping at the scenic parks along the way. Head to the town square to admire the Fountain of Justice and the stunning Cathedral.

If you're visiting during a beer festival, grab a pretzel and enjoy a refreshing beer.

After exploring Frankfurt, drive towards Wurzburg. On the way, make a stop to visit the impressive Johannisburg Palace.
Day 2Explore Wurzburg & Drive to Rothenberg ob der Tauber
Today's Itinerary:

Start your day by visiting the magnificent Residenz Palace in Würzburg. Admire its opulent Rococo interiors, the grand staircase with Tiepolo frescoes, and the stunning Hofgarten (Court Garden) with manicured lawns and sculptures. Take a stroll across the Alte Mainbrücke (Old Main Bridge), famous for its statues of saints and mythological figures, offering scenic views of the Main River.

Next, drive for 45 minutes to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. If you love medieval history and architecture, make a detour to Bad Mergentheim. Explore the churches, Deutschordensmuseum, and the Palace. Another option is visiting the Bad Mergentheim Wild Park, home to native European wildlife.

Arrive in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, check in to your accommodation, and take time to explore the town. Visit Plönlein, the iconic medieval spot often seen in movies, and then wander through the charming Old Quarter.
Day 3Drive to Nordlingen: Stop at Dinkelsbuhl

For history enthusiasts, the Stadtmuseum and Rieskrater-Museum offer insights into the town’s rich past and its fascinating location within a meteorite crater. End your day relaxing at a café or enjoying Bavarian cuisine at a local restaurant.
Day 4Drive to Augsburg
Day's Journey:

Today, drive from Nordlingen to Augsburg (approx. 1 hour). Founded in 15 BC, Augsburg is one of Germany's oldest cities, yet it retains a charming and intimate feel despite being Bavaria’s third-largest town.

Begin your exploration at the Town Hall, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, and visit the Golden Saal, famous for its stunning gilded ceiling and opulent decor. Don’t miss Fugger’s Fuggerei, the world’s oldest social housing complex, built in 1516 to provide affordable homes for the poor.

Other highlights include the Augsburg Cathedral, Mozart House, St. Anna’s Church, Perlach Tower, and the Diocesan Museum. Wander through the vibrant shopping streets in the modern town center or relax in one of Augsburg’s many quaint cafés.
Day 5Drive to Fussen: Stop at Schongau

Today, drive to Fussen, a journey of approximately 1.5 hours.

On the way, make a stop in Schongau, where the journey becomes more picturesque as you head south. Enjoy the scenic views of highlands and farmlands along the route. Schongau is known for its well-preserved medieval Stadtmauer (city wall) and charming small-town vibe. While it may not boast an abundance of tourist attractions, the tranquil atmosphere makes it a worthwhile stop.

After soaking up Schongau's charm, continue to Fussen, where you’ll stay for the next two nights. Explore Füssen’s delightful old town, with its brightly colored buildings adorned with frescoes, Bavarian architecture, and cobblestone streets, all exuding a timeless, old-world charm.
Day 6Fairy Tale Castles in Fussen

Embark on a day trip to the royal castles of Hohenschwangau and Schloss Neuschwanstein, both linked to King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

Located at the foot of the Alps, these castles are straight out of a fairy tale.
