    Welcome to Athens

Welcome to Athens! Ahead of you is an unforgettable exploration of an ancient land of gods and goddesses, myths and legends. Arriving at the airport, pick up your car and start your unforgettable holiday in the vibrant capital of Greece - Athens. The city is an effortless mix of ancient treasures and modern verve. 2. Day 2 Athens
    Athens

Suggestions for the day: Athens: City of Gods and Legends

    • Starting the second day of your Greek adventure, we suggest visiting the Acropolis with its treasures and admiring the Parthenon, dedicated to the goddess Athena, the Royal Palace, the Temple of Zeus, and the Agora, once the haunt of Socrates and Plato. Consider putting the Acropolis Museum on your itinerary, and see Hadrian's Arch and the stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. Stroll through the Plaka, people-watch in Syntagma Square, or go in search of the city's tastiest souvlaki – the choice is yours. Spend another night in Athens.
  3. Day 3 Drive to Nafplion
    Drive to Nafplion

Suggestions for the day: Corinth, Mycenae, and the Charms of Nafplion

    • Depart Athens and cross the mighty Corinth Canal to the wild Peloponnesian Peninsula. Drive from Athens to Corinth will take you approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. There, we suggest you book (in advance) a guided tour around this ancient city, that has been fought over throughout the centuries.  After, make your way south to Nafplion. On the way you should stop at the Archaeological site of Mycenae, where you can see the Beehive Tombs (the Treasury of Atreus), the Lion Gate, and the remains of Agamemnon's Royal Palace. Another possible stop before settling in Nafplion for the night is Epidaurus, to visit the ancient theatre and view the Sanctuary of Asclepius, the God of Medicine, whose snake-entwined staff remains the symbol of medicine to this day.
  4. Day 4 Drive to Olympia
    Drive to Olympia

Suggestions for the day: Discovering the Birthplace of the Olympics

    • Today you will travel to ancient Olympia (from Nafplion it's a 2 hours and 30 minutes drive). Olympia is the site of the first Olympic Games, which took place in 776 BC. The UNESCO-listed ruins of Ancient Olympia are one of the archaeological highlights of the Peloponnese. Explore the excellent museum and vast complex to admire the remains of temples and the stadium, hippodrome, wrestling school, and gymnasium where Olympic athletes trained. Spend the night in Olympia.
  5. Day 5 Drive to Delphi
    Drive to Delphi

Suggestions for the day: Patras to Delphi - Temples and Treasures

    • On the morning of the 5th day, visit the Temples of Zeus and Hera. Leaving Olympia behind drive north to mainland Greece -  Patras. The drive will take you more or less 2 hours. We suggest you take the coastal road to enjoy the view. Once there, you can visit Patras Castle, the Roman Odeon, or the Archeological Museum of Patras. Your final destination and home for the night is the city of Delphi (from Patras another 2h drive).

  6. Day 6 Drive to Kastraki
    Drive to Kastraki

Suggestions for the day: Delphi to Kastraki - Echoes of the Ancients

    • Walk in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks as you visit the sanctuary of Delphi to meet eye-to-eye with the most important oracle in the classical world. Take the Sacred Way to the 4th-century Temple of Apollo. View the statues immortalizing the strength of the athletes who once competed in the Pythian Games, held in honor of Apollo and the Arts. In the afternoon enjoy the scenic drive (1h15min) to Thermopylae, famous for the heroic defense of Spartans against the Persians. Cross the lush Thessaly region, then travel over the Pourmaraki Pass towards Kastraki, where you will spend the night.
  7. Day 7 Drive to Athens
