About this tour

Crypts and Catacombs Walking Tour introduces you to a Rome you would have left without knowing otherwise.

Discover imperial and early Christian Rome by peeling back layers and millenniums of history as you descend into the Eternal City's underground burial chambers, its long winding catacombs, and impressive crypts.

This unique tour shows you the best of underground Rome including the crypt made from Capuchin monks' bones and the Domitilla Catacombs where early Christians worshiped in secret.

These Catacombs are incredibly extensive, reaching as far as 17 kilometers.

Some of these are still inaccessible, so even more secrets lie buried under the very path you walk on.

Go below and beyond to a time when Christianity was considered a simple cult whose members were executed as pagans and buried as martyrs, so much so that entire burial places were created just so that people could be buried near these heroes.

This tour is offered in English and will thrill and frighten you in every language as you learn the disturbing and exciting history of one of the most historically religious cities on earth.

This is the only tour that takes you deep into Rome’s heart, exploring different eras, diverse locations, and many of the capital’s crypts and catacombs that tell the tale of a mysterious, sundry past.

This tour will thrill and delight adults and children and teach even more about Rome from the underground than the architecture above.
